When your dog has an
accident it is important to completely eliminate the odor from that
location. This helps keep him/her from returning to the spot and repeating
the error.
To clean the carpet (or upholstery), soak up as much of the urine as
possible as quickly as possible, then rinse with cool water and soak up
the water with paper towels or a wet vacuum.
Then clean the spot with a commercial enzyme cleaner and deodorizer
followed with another rinse with cool water to remove as much of the
cleaning solution as possible.
To clean concrete floors use a disinfectant, and if the concrete is
unsealed allow it to seep in, then rinse thoroughly with water. If the
concrete is sealed you can clean it with a quart of warm water, white
vinegar (1/4 cup) and a half teaspoon of dish washing detergent. It's a
good idea to finish with an odor neutralizer (available at pet stores).
